A Hero Rising (A New Dawn, #3) By Aubrie Dionne Blog Tour Interview

Hello all!!! I'm today's stop in Aubrie's "A Hero Rising" Blog Tour. I've asked her a few questions, so sit back, relax, and get to know a little more about this amazing author :)

About the Book:
Give me the blurb for the book:
After watching his love leave on a colony ship, James Wilfred must save those left behind from a planetary apocalypse. Their salvation lies in an unfinished ship tucked away in a secret government base, and only James can break in and pilot him and his people to freedom on a nearby space station.

Skye O’Connor’s boyfriend never returns after his gang attempts an assassination of the Governor, and the State Building is destroyed. Worse, crazed moonshiners addicted to the chemical Morpheus have stormed the city, and she must find a safe place for her and her boyfriend’s daughter. When a heroic man saves her, Skye asks to accompany him on his quest to find the last colony ship left on Earth.
As the city falls around them, James and Skye must work together to build a new future, all the while rediscovering their ability to love, before the apocalypse claims them both.

Do you have a favorite character?
James is definitely my favorite.

Why is he your favorite?
He appeared in the second book of the series as a smaller character, and I loved his storyline so much I wanted him to have his own book. He's noble to a fault, determined, and heartbroken- a great combination for a hero!

What do you hope readers will get from your book?
I hope they'll think about the future: in terms of overpopulation, diminishing resources, and what kind of Earth we leave to our children. I also want them to have fun and enjoy the roller coaster ride!

About the Author:
What/Who inspires you?
Movies definitely inspire me the most. I grew up watching Star Wars and Star Trek TNG. I used to act out scenes with my sister and we'd fight about who got to be Princess Leia. Our swing set was a space ship and we powered it by swinging, of course!

Hardest aspect of writing?
The rejections, by far. Sometimes, when it's really bad I can't write for a day or two until I get over it. I've gotten so many of them now I can brush them off a little better, but they still sting.

Best/Easiest?
Getting to see my cover for the first time and holding my book in my hands! Reading positive reviews from readers is also wonderful!

Who is your writing hero?
I love Stephen King's persistence and how he pushed through all of the rejections to rise above. I love Patricia McKillip's imagery and flowing language. I love Tad Williams's epic writing style.

About the Future:
What’s next for you?
I'm currently working on two YA trilogies that tie into the New Dawn series. One is told when they reach Paradise 21, and another is a prequel written at the peak of the high rises before civilization on Earth collapses.

One outrageous goal for the future?
I'm a flutist by day, and I'd like to buy my own orchestra and solo in front of it! I'm so sick of taking auditions and getting on the sub lists and never getting called. Someday I'll just make my own orchestra and then I won't have to worry about it!

Do you have any advice you'd like to share with other aspiring writers?
Be persistent and keep writing. It took five critique partners and four books for me to get an agent. And I'm still writing my butt off every day. This is a lifetime journey, and you have to be dedicated to honing your craft. You have to LOVE to write.
